Sanjay Tripathi has a long track record of establishing and growing businesses inside and outside of IBM. Sanjay is currently responsible for expanding the reach of IBMs semiconductor Products and Services to support the resurgence of semiconductor manufacturing in North America, Japan, and Europe.
Previously, in IBM Software he helped establish IBMs Watson/AI businesses in IoT, Supply Chain, and Blockchain for which he led M&A, Strategy & Portfolio Planning. Sanjay led the acquisition of carbon accounting firm Envizi which is the first foray for IBM Software into Sustainability.
Earlier in IBM Systems, Sanjay led the growth of IBM’s $900M Data Protection business via acquisitions in Israel and by breathing new life into legacy cash-cow products which helped IBM win an Emmy Award with TV broadcasters for new workflows. Before Systems, he helped establish what is now IBMs Chief Analytics Office.
Sanjay joined IBM from Imago Scientific Instruments (acquired by Ametek: NYSE: AME), a nanotechnology start-up, that he led from pre-revenue to profitability. He raised over $20M in capital from multiple sources including prominent venture capital firms such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Infineon Ventures.
Before embarking on his career as an entrepreneur, Sanjay was with the management consulting firm of McKinsey & Company where he was active in the Firm’s Hi-Tech practice. He started his career at Intel Corporation where he was on the core-team for the process-design of the first Pentium processor, Intel's first eight-inch fab, and Intel's first fab in Ireland.
Sanjay has an MBA from the Wharton School, a master’s in chemical engineering from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
