Regina M. Shia is a research psychologist for the Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright Patterson AFB, OH. She received her PhD. in 2008 in Human Factors Psychology from Wright State University where she studied the interaction of affect and fatigue on cognitive performance. She worked as a full-time research scientist at NTI, Inc in Dayton, OH from 2002-2006, where she studied the development of cognitive testing procedures for the identification of performance decrements due to various stressors. During her time at NTI, she assessed cognitive decrements due to fatigue, acceleration force, and simulated Special Forces tactical exercises. Dr. Shia is currently serving as a Program Manager for the Advanced Development Team for AFRL’s Materials and Manufacturing Directorate supporting human wearable technology for the aerospace environment. Dr. Shia is the lead for the Flex Sensor Integration and Functionalization (APM2) program with focus on physiological monitoring in flight for the detection of unexplained physiological events. Dr. Shia is also the lead for the Material Advances for Cognitive Sensing (MACS) program with focus on electrophysiological material advances and cognitive monitoring in flight for the detection of stress and fatigue.
