Werner is a Corporate Finance Expert Partner in McKinsey’s New Jersey office. He is one of the leaders of our center of competence for financial and capital markets analysis, M&A, valuation, and financial analytics (S&CF Insights, 150FTE). Werner also co-leads McKinsey’s work in investor relations and investor communication and many other knowledge areas.
Werner works with teams and clients who need leadership for in-depth financial analyses, corporate and business unit valuation, M&A, capital structure, investor relations and general financial analysis to identify, value and prioritize corporate strategies. He works mainly with Oil and Gas, High-Tech, Industrial, and Pharma clients. Werner is currently focused on helping clients value the impact of the energy transition and finding a value-positive path to net zero. He also has extensive experience in project financing and financial restructuring.
In addition to the client work, Werner is faculty for many of McKinsey’s corporate finance training programs. Werner is author of many articles on value creation (especially from ESG initiatives), technical valuation issues, investor relations, and M&A. He is also a member of the editorial board for McKinsey on Finance, the Firm’s quarterly publication on Corporate Finance Topics, and publishes on “Prime Numbers”, our blog for valuation practitioners.
Prior to New Jersey, Werner worked in our offices in Berlin, Frankfurt, Boston, and New York.
Werner holds a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University Darmstadt, Germany, a Masters of Engineering degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA, and an MBA degree in Finance and Accounting from Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is married and has three teenage sons.
