Emeritus Faculty
San Jose State University
San Jose, CA, United States
Laimin Lo left her white labcoat and the medical device industry behind in 2000 to begin her high-tech career at Cisco Systems, Inc. where she held various product marketing and communications roles before "retiring" 9 years later to raise her two young children. During early retirement, she served as a Bay Area Leadership Foundation board member in 2010 and worked tirelessly to mentor at-risk high school students and help them enter college. Her work at the Foundation led her to San Jose State University in 2012 where she taught marketing and business communication courses for 12 academic years and is now emerita faculty. The impact she has made on student success is showcased through the “Lecture of the Year” and “Excellence in Teaching” awards that she received in 2014 and 2016 respectively. In 2019, Laimin watched her children go off to college and she has since returned to Silicon Valley. Laimin is currently employed as a communication strategist, but she remains deeply passionate about career coaching her former students and underserved populations.
