Mary Puma has been Axcelis’ Executive Chairperson since May 2023. Prior to this, Puma had served as President and CEO since January 2002. Puma first joined the business in 1998 as a Vice President when it was a division of Eaton Corporation. She played an instrumental role in Axcelis’ initial public offering and spin off from Eaton in 2000, serving as Axcelis’ first President and Chief Operating Officer. Puma provided strong leadership over the course of her tenure as CEO. Notably her oversight of a complete revitalization of the Company’s product lines led to significant growth in revenues and profitability. Puma first joined Eaton in May 1996 as the General Manager of the company’s commercial controls division. Prior to joining Eaton, she spent 15 years in various marketing and general management positions at five different General Electric business units. Puma holds a BA in economics, Phi Beta Kappa, from Tufts University and an MS in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management. She is a member of the boards at Nordson Corporation, Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital and is Chairperson of the board of the industry’s trade group, SEMI.
